Role & Responsibilities of Application Support Engineer

  • An application support engineer (ASE) is an IT professional responsible for troubleshooting a company's software applications and ensuring that help desk tickets are resolved promptly.
  • In a large enterprise, an ASE may act as a subject matter expert for a specific software stack.
  • Applications support is a service that ensures the operational processes in a business run smoothly and enables users to conduct their business.
  • It is available to both internal and external stakeholders of an organization. The internal users are the organizational employees, management and ownership.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas to those with limited IT and systems knowledge.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Listening ability and patience.
  • Extraordinary customer service and relationship management experience.

Application Support Engineer Skills

  • Working knowledge of SQL Databases & basic network configuration.
  • Working Knowledge of IT Hardware and Software.
  • Ability to learn and master employer-specific software.
  • Complex problem-solving.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to diagnose & address application issues.
